A school in Scunthorpe has launched a biometric system that will allow students to pay for their lunches with a fingerprint scan. The system was installed by Baysgarth School, in Barton, at the end of last term, with the aim of simplifying the payment system.A statement issued by the school stated that the system “will completely eliminate the need for students to remember their lunch card and go through the hassle of waiting for a temporary pass”.”All they will need to do is extend their hand to the fingerprint scanner and swipe their fingerprints.”The school has assured parents that the fingerprints cannot be used by any other source for identification purposes.
