Integrating the My Digital ID platform with existing systems and mobile applications is taking longer than the Government of Malaysia anticipated
The project – which will now be against a strict deadline to finish this month – is behind its initial completion date, set for March.
The acting CEO of My Digital ID negated any potential criticism that the company is at fault for not performing and delaying the project. He has insisted the system was ready for implementation however integrating their system raised some unforeseen challenges.
The system will issue a single login to access online government services and simplify authentication from multi-factor methods. The unforeseen challenges are concerned with integrating the Padu and MyJPJ systems.
With numerous departments serving citizens, governments harness a multitude of systems which need to be made fully interoperable with upgraded technologies. For some services, My Digital ID was successfully integrated such as, MySejahtera, the MyGov Portal, and HRMIS – the government human resources portal.
Both online and in-person registration at MyDigital ID kiosks will be postponed until May, when financial institutions too can start using the solution for e-KYC in cross-border transactions.
