Chinese phone manufacturer HTC has unveiled a “China-only” smartphone that features a touch fingerprint sensor that is already integrated with Alibaba's mobile payment service.The HTC One M9+ features a touch fingerprint sensor on the lower-front bezel. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio X10, a 64-bit chip processor with eight Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 2.2GHz.HTC has confirmed that it will work with China's popular AliPay Wallet cashless payment system.”HTC is excited to bring the HTC One M9+ to customers in China, where we have worked closely with mobile operators to create a phone with the right balance of screen size, processor performance, software, and radio network compatibility to meet consumers' needs”, wrote the company in a statement.”Ranging in other markets will be confirmed locally at a later date. The One M9+ is not currently planned to be released in North America or Europe, where we believe our flagship HTC One M9 is the best choice.”It remains to be seen if the fingerprint sensor will be used for mobile payments in other regions, and HTC has yet to confirm which company supplied the hardware and software for the fingerprint reader.
