A senior member of Microsoft's staff has said that a new Windows mobile payment system could be launched, with biometrics providing the authentication.Joe Belfiore, VP of the company's operating systems group, revealed the plans in an a joint interview with The Verge and Recode.Microsoft had previously launched a wallet application in Windows 8, but it hasn't not seen major take-up or progress.”Windows is going to have a wallet concept. You've seen it on phones before. We're going to continue to iterate it,” said Belfiore. “We're going to think about the range of payment scenarios.”The planned wallet would like use Microsoft's Hello biometric authentication service, which uses facial recognition, backed by infrared flaring in some examples like the Windows Lumia phones.As for the timing, all Belfiore would say is, “Soon.”
