Japanese telecoms operator NTT Docomo has added Touch ID access to its online services.Docomo will start offering an account app free of charge on 9 March. Touch ID will give users access Docomo's shopping sites, such as 'D delivery' or 'D shopping'.Additionally, Docomo's carrier billing will be verifiable with Touch ID starting in late March. The app will support specifications from the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance. The app is expected to encourage more Docomo partner companies to incorporate the FIDO standard as users demand biometric authentication for an expanding range of mobile handsets.Docomo has already released Docomo Android smartphones offering FIDO-enabled biometric authentication for password-free access to its online services.
