ABIS provider, Innovatrics has revealed it topped the ranks in last year’s annual Biometric Rally, organised by the US Department of Homeland Security, which determined the most accurate iris matching technology used on mixed crowds of participants.
Innovatrics is one of leading biometric vendors offering solutions across three main modalities – facial, fingerprint and iris. While iris recognition is widely considered to be the most accurate biometric modality, facial and fingerprint recognition are more common applications across sectors, though rising demand for advanced authentication backed by the Government is increasing this growth. The global market for Iris Biometrics was estimated at US$2.3 Billion in 2020.
The rally moved Innovatrics’ iris matching system to poll position above other competing systems, accurately matching people who had opted in for testing amongst the crowd, regardless of demographics like race or gender.
Director of Innovatric’s ABIS Business Unit, Matus Kapusta, said: “Our results show that our new iris recognition algorithm is well-suited for real-life situations it is most commonly used for”. 600 people representing all demographics took part in the testing which was in line with COVID requirements at the time, testing themselves with masks as well as without them.
Following the 2021 results, Paravision who used the moniker, “Salt” in the rally, was also awarded the highest ranking amongst facial biometric systems.
Applications have now closed to enter into 2022’s rally. Successful applicants should receive their acceptance by the end of July ahead of the next rally taking place from 14 to 30 September 2022.
