The European Association for Biometrics (EAB) has announced that it will organise the region's largest research conference on 7-8 September 2015 in the German city of Darmstadt.The second EAB Research Projects Conference 2015 will be held on the premises of Fraunhofer IGD. It has been jointly organised by EAB and numerous EU FP7 projects, namely FIDELITY, FastPass, BEAT, FutureID, MobilePass, Eksistenz, PCAS, PIDaaS, ORIGINS, ABC4EU, SIIP, INGRESS and HECTOS.”New projects in the fields of border control, speaker verification, template protection and more will be presented,” said the EAB in a statement. “Experts from the biometric community will report about their results and will discuss in a panel the impact of the new EU regulation on privacy and data protection specifically regarding biometric research and deployment”.There will also be a panel devoted to discussing large-scale deployments (e.g. the European Smart Borders) and their need for research and standards and how that can be supported by future research topics in the Horizon 2020 research programme.The EAB is a pan-European non-profit association seeking to advance the proper and beneficial use of biometrics in Europe. It currently has over 170 members from 35 countries.
