Israeli behavioral biometrics firm BioCatch has been granted a US patent for identifying users on mobiles.The company was granted a a patent entitled, “System, device, and method of detecting identity of a user of a mobile electronic device.”The patent allows for the authentication of mobile device user through the application of behavioral biometric technology.BioCatch's mobile authentication solution aims to minimize the potential for fraud and malware attacks when conducting banking transactions and payments on mobile devices.The authentication technology, on which the U.S. patent is based, creates a cognitive biometric signature which takes into account physiological factors such as left/right handedness, press-size, hand tremor and eye-hand coordination, as well as behavioral traits, such as usage preferences and device interaction patterns.
