Google has revealed plans to launch its biometrics-backed mobile payment service, Android Pay, in the UK, with a number of British banks and global payments firms partnering.The contactless payment system will be launched “in the coming months”, said Google.The payment system will support Mastercard and Visa credit and debit cards, and is backed by Bank of Scotland, First Direct, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds Bank, M&S Bank, MBNA and Nationwide.Google also announced a number of retail partners for the launch of Android Pay, including British favourites such as Boots, Greggs, Waitrose and Transport for London.Because Android Pay is g NFC-based, users can use phone to pay anywhere that you could otherwise pay with a contactless card.Android Pay has been growing steadily in the US with 1.5 million new registrations happening each month.
