As Saudi Arabian telecom operators launch initiatives to link biometrics to SIMs, one operator has said subscribers will get 3GB free after registering their fingerprint for data SIM cards. The telecom Mobily has said customers can walk into any of Mobily's branches or authorized distributors and resellers with their national identity (iqama) along with the data SIM card to register the fingerprint and get a free 3 GB, reports Trade Arabia. The fingerprint registration comes in compliance with a Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) resolution, which states the urgency to update the fingerprint database for all new and existing subscribers in telecom companies. The CITC decision was announced last year, but implementation was delayed because some mobile service operators in the Kingdom required time to obtain fingerprint registration devices from abroad.
