Visa outsourcing and technology firm VFS Global is testing a mobile visa app for the UAE and is in talks with European countries over similar applications.VFS Global CEO Zubin Karkaria has confirmed in an interview with India's Economic Times that the firm is "in the final stages of" testing a visa app in the UAE for passengers of Emirates.In addition, VFS has already created visa apps which it plans to present to the governments in the Schengen area.Karkaria said the company is in talks with governments to make visa procedures more technologically relevant, "while ensuring security and complete data protection".He confirmed that the apps won't be able to collect biometric details that are required by countries like the US and the UK for visa application procedures.However, the firm does have plans to use mobile biometrics that would see devices used in remoter areas to capture people's fingerprint or facial data.
