A tablet being developed by Morpho would use facial and fingerprint recognition to speed up checking in passengers at airports.Showcased at the firm's own innovation awards in Villaroche, France, the tablet can read e-passport data and then verify it using attached biometric hardware.Weighing just 600 grams, the mobile device could also be used by customs officers or in other parts of the airport security chain to quickly verify identities. For hardware, it has a high-definition camera, and a fingerprint reader certified by both the FBI (PIV IQS(*) compliant) and the STQC(**).While the tablet has not yet been deployed in an airport, Morpho says it has been used for citizen and voter ID applications in India, Egypt and Mali.
