The government of St. Kitts and Nevis have launched mandatory biometric enrolment to strengthen the security of passports aligned with modern standards.

Across the UK, EU and US, biometric passports embed essential passenger data and chips, which once captured, remains valid over the lifetime of the document.

The biometric passport programme will launch advanced technology to collect a higher grade of biometric information. Every citizen of the federation is required to complete biometric enrollment by 31 July 2027. Routine appointments can be booked at government approved collection facilities, which opened on 1 May.

The new biometric passport incorporates fingerprint, facial recognition and e-signature data as well as chips.

With the programme live, authorised agents will be registered on the biometrics portal.

Phase 1 collection locations include the Citizenship Unit office in St. Kitts and authorised service providers in key cities worldwide, including in Asia and the UAE. Phase 2 locations across the consular network will be announced in the coming weeks.

Programme fees are USD 2,500 for the first adult, USD 2,000 for a second adult in the same family, and USD 1,300 for children under 16. All fees are inclusive of biometric enrolment and the passport upgrade. The programme does not affect the rights, status, or standing of any citizen.
