Swedish biometric sensor maker Fingerprint Cards has received a second order from a Taiwanese integrated circuits firm that is serving the Chinese smartphone market.FPC revealed on Monday that is has received a SEK 235 million (US$28.3 million) order for its touch fingerprint sensors FPC1025 and FPC1155 from the distributor World Peace Industrial Group (WPI), part of WPG Holdings.Deliveries of the sensors are planned to take place during Q3 2015 and the sensors will be used by smartphone manufacturers in China. The order value of 235 MSEK is included in the communicated revenue guidance of + 1 000 MSEK for 2015. Jörgen Lantto, acting President and Chief Executive Officer of FPC, comments: “This order, of which its value is similar to FPC's total revenues for 2014, shows that touch fingerprint sensors are now being established as a standard component in a growing share of the smartphone market. Our broad portfolio of touch fingerprint sensors, which can be integrated in many different ways into the smartphone OEMs' products, gives us good possibilities to capture a large share of this fast growing market.”Last week, WPG Holdings said it expects to post revenue growth of 8.3-12.9% sequentially in the second quarter of 2015, with fingerprint sensors helping to drive sales.In April, FPC received an earlier SEK 110 million order for its touch fingerprint sensor FPC1025 from WPG Holdings.
