A biometric-based welfare payment system has launched in Pakistan, with the aim of ensuring that aid reaches the right beneficiary.A mobile biometric tool will be used to help distrubite the Benazir Income Support Program for a tranche to be launched this month.BISP awards financial support of Rs4,700 to more than 1.8 million beneficiaries of Sindh on quarterly basis via Benazir Debit Card (BDC).However, in the past illiterate receivers have struggled with ATMs, instead turning to dubious middle-men.Beneficiaries will now be able to draw the amount by using their CNIC along with biometrics at particular OMNI or EASY PAISA SHOPS.
