Identity and security solutions firm Safran has announced that it has been selected by Nepal National Identity Management Center to build the National Identification System.Safran noted in a statement that this is a first e-Governance initiative towards establishing an electronic National Identity System for the country.”The National Identity System is one of the key programs identified in the eGovernment Masterplan of Nepal. It is a first step in creating an ecosystem of trusted identities which promises to transform the lives of citizens, from the busy streets in Kathmandu to villages in the Himalayas. Each Nepalese will be empowered with a unique proof of identity, one that is backed up by the highest level of reliability, security and confidentiality.” Commented Dinesh Bhattarai, Executive Director of NIDMC.
