Benin's government plans to enrol its entire overseas population biometrically from Oct. 25 in 32 countries across the world for its 2016 presidential election.”This biometric enrolment of Beninese people living in foreign countries is part of the upcoming presidential election set for February 2016,” Augustin Ahouanvoebla, chairman of the orientation and monitoring committee of permanent digital electoral list (COS-LEPI) said during an exchange meeting in Cotonou, Benin's economic capital city.About 500 counting officials dispatched and 98 polling stations will be set up for the exercise, and the counting and enrolment operations will involve about 2.5 million citizens overseas, Ahouanvoebla said.”Out of the 2.5 million overseas citizens to be identified and enrolled, about 300,000 are potential voters that will take part in the coming 2016 February presidential election,” he said.Computerized voter registration in Benin has been implemented by Gemalto, which has y implemented secure biometric registration and optimized process management there.
