Senior Bangladeshi officials have confirmed that the country will launch a full ePassport to replace its current MRTD.The decision came in a meeting at the home ministry on Monday, reports Prothom Alo.A feasibility committee, formed to study the project, has been asked to submit a report in the next 10 days.Home ministry sources told the newspaper that the holder's information, including biometric data such as iris and fingerprint data, will be stored in the document's microchip.The country also plans to launch an eID card this year. Last January, Electoral Commission (EC) secretary Sirajul Islam said the laser-engraved, polycarbonate-based, high security identification card would prevent forgery and be used for 22 public services. He added that some 90 million voters would get the card by June 2016.
