To bolster identity provisions for online transactions, American Express is piloting SafeKey 3D secure authentication developed by the FIDO Alliance in collaboration with the World Wide Web Consortium.
The Apex mobile app, as well as supporting one-time ID codes and app notifications, will impress a heightened level of security protection to avert fraudsters trying to overcome online transactions. Biometric features are the latest wave of disruptive technologies that provide assurance that the person authenticating is who they claim to be for “speedier, stronger and more initiative” ID processes.
American Express card holders will be able to authenticate using fingerprint and facial recognition tools on their online platform as early as 2024.
