China’s permanent ID Card for foreign nationals is due a modern redesign in December. The ID card, trialled in September, will provide eligible non-native residents with a legal identity document for permanent residence in the country.
The updated design will integrate modern features and national emblems that enhance the overall security level of the document, which the National Immigration Administration of China that is producing the card confirmed could be used for a multitude of everyday activities. It will be used to prove the legal identity of someone to pay for train or air fares.
The card is brandished with a Great Wall design and the five-star national emblem. The current version of the card will continue to be valid after the introduction of the fresh design within the validity period.
