VASCO Data Security International has launched DIGIPASS SecureClick, a hardware authenticator that enables users to complete access to common online applications with the single click of a button. DIGIPASS SecureClick was designed to FIDO U2F specifications to fulfill the FIDO Alliance mission of creating a higher level of online user security through strong authentication standards that move beyond inherently weak static passwords. According to the company, DIGIPASS SecureClick is FIDO Certified and communicates via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or a USB port. After launching an application that supports FIDO U2F, the user enters their login credentials and clicks the button on DIGIPASS SecureClick to complete the authentication process. The process leverages an encrypted communication channel between DIGIPASS SecureClick and the BLE device to deliver secure and fast user authentication."DIGIPASS SecureClick is an important innovation that delivers the optimal balance of application security and a frictionless user experience," says Jan Valcke, president and COO of VASCO Data Security. "We've had great success with our authentication technology in the banking segment for many years and we are pleased to support the FIDO Alliance vision of providing stronger security to the broader online application market.""Achieving FIDO certification is a milestone that showcases how VASCO is supporting the FIDO Alliance vision for open and interoperable strong authentication," says Brett McDowell, executive director of the FIDO Alliance. "Using FIDO Certified products like the DIGIPASS SecureClick allows consumers to access applications that support the FIDO U2F standard, including Google, Dropbox and GitHub, with strong authentication that is incredibly convenient to use."
