Utah has launched an official electronic government platform that authenticates global legal documents for attesting marriage, adoption, international education and other accreditation around the world.
As the first state securing a digital apostille process, Utah citizens can enjoy validating their identity and sensitive legal documents with no time delay,
The Office of the Lieutenant Governor authenticated more than 45k documents last year, reporting an increase of 250% since 2020. 18,000 documents were authenticated on record in 2020. As part of a pilot programme, Utah issued over 1,000 digital apostilles which were authenticated, although some documents like birth certificates still remain excluded.
