Signicat has achieved recognition as a certified identity verification provider under the UK’s Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework. The digital verification services that achieve this accreditation live on the statutory DVS register on GOV.UK, controlling the identity tech market across the public and private sector.
Signicat provides component NFC-based identity and identity document verification technology and orchestration services. The government sets the standards around the use of digital identity technologies, whether deployed to fulfil the public digital roadmap and facilitate public trust, or support the private market.
The certification comes at a crucial time for the UK, in terms of Digital Identity, following the UK government announcements ending the Digital Identity scheme, leaving the trust framework under the guidance of the Office for Digital Identities and Attributes as the key enabler of future Digital ID adoption in the UK.
Following an independent audit by the Kantara Initiative, Signicat offers its components and orchestration for use by third-party services which are certified for existing use cases: Right to Work, Right to Rent and Disclosure and Barring Services checks (DBS) in the UK.
“Organisations and individuals spend an exorbitant amount of time and money trying to keep up with fragmented identity regulations across Europe and the UK,” said Ray Ryan, UK Country Manager at Signicat. “The DIATF certification alongside our other certifications ensures regulated sectors have a unified, independently certified secure method to onboard staff and customers instantly, without leaving the door open to sophisticated fraud“.
Signicat’s ReadID technology and orchestration, covered by this certification, completes document verification and facial verification checks to ensure the user is present and is the legitimate owner of the document, and is already providing millions of transactions per month to public and private institutions.
