British citizens and residents can now use the digital identity service SecureIdentity, following certification by the UK government. This service is provided by Morpho (Safran). Morpho is one of the new providers to support the expansion of online services offered through the UK government's new GOV.UK Verify program. GOV.UK Verify is the new way to prove who you are online so that users can safely and securely access an increasing range of digital government services, such as viewing their driving licenses or filing their taxes. "We are very pleased to join the GOV.UK Verify programme and are especially proud to be the first identity provider to go live under the new framework for certified companies," says Paul Naldrett, managing director, Morpho UK. This is another significant step for Morpho, adding to our extensive portfolio of 55 ID projects around the world."According to Morpho, SecureIdentity is a secure mobile application for citizens to prove and protect their identities online. Users will be able to create a verified identity account through GOV.UK Verify. First-time users of SecureIdentity will go through a one-time only verification process that takes about 10 minutes. Once users are registered on SecureIdentity, it takes a few seconds to prove their identities online using a secure smartphone app. SecureIdentity will enable immediate and secure access without having to wait days for passwords or ID numbers to arrive in the post.Morpho says: "SecureIdentity fully supports the GOV.UK Verify movement to revolutionise access to public services through the adoption of strong digital identification and authentication technologies. These technologies will enable UK citizens and residents to benefit from easier, simpler and faster access to public services, while protecting the privacy of their personal data.
