Russia's Federal Service for the Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media ('Roskomnadzor') announced, on 29 January 2020, that it had decided a case concerning the unlawful collection of biometric personal data of minors of an educational institution by Synergy University.Following the trial, the University was found guilty of an administrative offence, and sentenced to a fine amounting to RUB 150,000 (approx. €2,176).ynergy University or Moscow University of Industry and Finance “Synergy” is one of the largest universities in Russia with more than 65,000 students.
