Taiwan-based Egistec and Guangdong, China -based Goodix have reportedly won fingerprint sensor orders for Samsung's new Galaxy A8-series smartphones. The contract win, reported by industry news magazine DigiTimes, comes as Goodix Technology is expanding its business in China by launching a touchscreen controller and fingerprint sensor bundle sales strategy. Both Egistec and Goodix are expected to significantly grow shipments of their fingerprint sensors in the fourth quarter of 2015, the sources told the magazine. In August, Human Interface solutions firm Goodix revealed plans to double the size of its marketing, sales and R&D operations in Silicon Valley and Southern California during the coming year due to expected rises in demand.Goodix sees strong demand across its entire touch, display, biometric and mobile payment portfolios, including solutions that integrate fingerprint sensors into touchscreens to simplify mobile device and data security. The “invisible” sensor eliminates a separate fingerprint sensor module by integrating a sensor directly onto the back of a touch panel. In July, Digitimes Research reported that Goodix will receive fingerprint sensor solution orders for mid-range smartphones from China brand vendors in the second half of 2015 thanks to its glass-covered fingerprint sensor technology.
