Swedish fingerprint recognition solution firm Precise Biometrics has reported that its net operating loss fell to 9.6 million Swedish krona (US$1.16 million) from 19 million Sek (US$2.29 million) year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2014.The loss reduction was boosted by a net sales increase in the fourth quarter of for the financial year to a value of 9.9 million Sek (US$1.19 million), up from 2.9 million Sek (US$351,000) last year.Overall, however, net sales for the financial year 2014 were SEK 31.4 million (US$3.80 million), down from 34.9 million (US$4.22 million) a year earlier.Available cash at the end of the fourth quarter amounted to SEK 59.7 million (US$7 million), added the firm in a statement.Major events for the firm in the period included its Precise BioMatch Mobile algorithm being integrated in the smartphone, Oppo N3.In December, Precise Biometrics also entered into an agreement with California-based Synaptics that will see its fingerprint algorithm included in the latter's touch fingerprint sensors and solutions.In the same month, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) within the US Department of Defense (DoD) has ordered 1,100 of Precise's Tactivo mobile smart card readers.
