Denying information posted online relating to a suspected data breach, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has said in a statement that a thorough investigation revealed no compromising attack on the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) and the Civil Registration System.
The PSA originally posted that the data leak involving one information system had been admitted by the bad actor. A rigorous investigation was launched by the government agency in the aftermath which tried to establish the nature of the leak and if it happened, what personal data was stolen to compromise citizen data.
The compromised data is thought to be limited to the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) which was immediately closed.
