Password manager Enpass has added fingerprint support on app for Android's new Marshmallow operating system.The new feature is currently only available on the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X.Users can now launch the Enpass app and automatically access passwords by simply putting their finger on the Nexus Imprint sensor.In October, Android has released a new sample demonstrating how to securely integrate its systems with compatible fingerprint readers.In a blog post, Android revealed how the Android Fingerprint API protects user privacy by keeping users' fingerprint features carefully contained within secure hardware on the device. The code sample “AsymmetricFingerprintDialog” demonstrates how to use an asymmetric key, in the context of authenticating an online purchase.Android also plans to provide protection for application developers in its system, with assurances that a user's fingerprint has been positively identified before providing access to secure data or resources.In the same month, Google detailed a list of minimum requirements for manufacturers hoping to attach fingerprint sensors to its android operating system.The tech giant, which earlier this month launched a series of Nexus phones featuring fingerprint sensors, wants to put strict guidelines in place to ensure security of biometric data. This seems particularly important given previous negative reports on android's biometric security.
