Oberthur Technologies (OT) has announced that its latest generation of PIV cards, ID-One PIV on Cosmo V8, has been submitted to the General Services Administration (GSA) for inclusion on the HSPD-12 Approved Products List (APL).ID-one PIV on Cosmo V8 is the next generation of FIPS 201-2 compliant smart card. "It is five times faster than the current PIV card used by US Federal agencies to allow physical access control compliant with FIC AM specifications in less than one second," says Rick Patrick, senior vice president, Identity Group-North America at Oberthur Technologies. Version 8 provides the next technology leap for the more than 100 agencies in the US Government."ID-One PIV is a physical and logical security access card solution that provides identity proofing, general authentication services and secures post issuance management. Initially designed for all Federal employees and contractors, the cards can also be issued by non-federal issuers.The GSA APL serves as a buying guide for all US Federal government agencies to assure that the products and services they are purchasing are in compliance with the current guidelines and technical specifications. More than 40 government agencies and corporate offices outside the US also look to the APL before making purchases because of the thorough testing and evaluation the GSA puts products and solutions through.
