As the largest platform to host adult content, OnlyFans’ duty to protect child safety involves effectively reporting to the media regulator of its age verification measures.

An investigation was opened by Ofcom after assessing formal submissions from the platform in response to information requests, indicating a lack of transparency over internal age assurance measures.

Introduced before the Online Safety Act, VSP regulations establish mandatory commitments to integrate the latest age verification technology into video-sharing platforms.

The investigation will uncover whether OnlyFans failed to provide accurate and complete information to Ofcom to protect under-18s, who are not allowed onto the platform.

Yoti is the official age assurance provider which asks prospective users to provide their name and card details with a photograph, or passport/ driving license if verification fails.
