Armenia is to issue a new model passport using Lasink as a printing technique for the polycarbonate biopage. New biometric passports will have a red cover, with national emblems and markings of the Republic of Armenia’s heritage. The circulation beginning in the fall will introduce biometric passports and ID cards, which comply with the international ICAO standard 9303 as the benchmark top security travel documents that can be recognised at the borders with ID scanning technology.

In a speech, Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the process was in its last stages and the final documents would bear no relation to the documents produced in 2022. According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the passports produced to the ICAO standard, embedded with high-security components, will increase their reliability, facilitate border crossings and contribute to the free movement of citizens.
