Gulf state Kuwait has launched the issuance of its new ePassports, with officials recognising the new document's security features.In a press conference, the Mol's Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah said that the ministry has begun issuing the e-passports to coincide with the country's national festivities.On the initiative, he said it represents efforts by the Mol to embrace the latest technological features for security, while noting that those below 12 years of age are exempt from the process of biometric registration.Meanwhile, Director General of the Mol's General Department of Information Systems Major General Ali Al-Maili said that the project had been completed with efficiency and in collaboration with global companies. Similarly, the Mol's Director General of Public Relations Brigadier Adel Al-Hashash noted that six centers interspersed throughout the country have been authorised to issue the e-passports.
