IDEMIA has been appointed as technology partner and won a tender to work on India’s “DigiYatra” project, an initiative run by the aviation ministry to deliver India’s digital vision.

IDEMIA’s CEO welcomed the partnership, saying: “We are thrilled to collaborate and partner with GMR Group for DigiYatra, yet another exemplary digitalisation initiative of the government. As a market leader for passenger flow facilitation solutions, we strive to constantly innovate to safeguard passenger trust and help pave the way for even smoother and more secure future travel”.

The DigiYatra initiative allows passengers to be securely processed along their travel journey using high-class facial recognition systems. These have already been made readily available at several airports, bringing the contactless initial phase 1 to Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi.

Verified at the outgoing airport, data from the passenger is encrypted in Digi Yatra ID. IDEMIA says it has been working for one-and-a-half years at Proof of Concept stage with Delhi International Airport, adding to an impressive portfolio of 250+ airports that have integrated IDEMIA’s award-winning passenger solutions.
