Swedish biometrics firm Fingerprint Cards has confirmed a new touch sensor order worth US$12.7 million on the same day that it said preliminary Q1 sales figures had risen over US$14.4 million.FPC said that the touch sensor order is from the distributor World Peace Industrial Group (WPI), part of WPG Holdings.Deliveries will commence during Q2 2015 although the major part of the shipments will take place during Q3 2015. The sensors will be used by smartphone manufacturers in China.Jörgen Lantto, acting President and Chief Executive Officer of FPC, comments: “This is the third order we recently have received for deliveries of FPC1025. These orders show that our partners are increasingly going to use FPC1025 for deliveries to smartphone manufacturers in China”.The firm also confirmed on Thursday that the Q1 figures of $14.4 million exceeds the guidance provided by the company in the year-end report 2014 – which set that revenues for Q1 2015 would be around $12.1 million.Lantto said: “Orders of touch fingerprint sensors received during the last part of the first quarter 2015 resulted in higher revenues than the guidance provided in the year-end report for 2014″.
