A coalition of leading Dutch financial, telecom, and consulting firms have unveiled MyCheck, a secure digital identity wallet designed for everyday online transactions.
Developed to comply with the eIDAS 2.0 regulation, which mandates all EU member states to establish a digital identity system by the end of 2026, MyCheck provides a local alternative to services offered by global technology conglomerates.
MyCheck allows users to maintain full control to protect their personal data by selecting exactly what information is shared during online interaction. They can prove eligibility such as demonstrating they meet an age requirement without sharing unnecessary details like full names or dates of birth.
Unified access eliminates the need for multiple accounts and passwords by enabling secure single-sign-on across various service providers.
The founding organisations have offered to collaborate with the Dutch government to roll out the wallet at no cost to taxpayers or end users.
Dutch government officials have welcomed the initiative, emphasising that early trials are vital for gathering practical operational experience prior to the EU’s 2026 deadline. Major institutions including A.S.R. and Nationale-Nederlanden have already indicated plans to integrate MyCheck into their operations, with additional partners expected to join.
