AuthenticID’s biometric technology and liveness detection is being offered to California DMV to fortify residents’ mobile driver license security. The tech will confirm users’ identities in seconds reducing the potential of fraudulent enrolments with the use of face matching and liveness detection.

“The California DMV Wallet will continue to add public and private sector services to make Californian digital lives easier with an innovative, inclusive and privacy preserving digital credential”.

Digital identity verification is critical to the adoption of mDLs, which is accelerating fast across the United States as an accepted ID document in the travel and retail industry. It qualifies as ID for a myriad of uses which is why California completed its rollout of the state’s mDLs as a pilot last year to 1.5 million participants. Participants can download the California DMV mobile app and select from the Apple Wallet, Google Wallet or the California DMV Wallet.

“We’re proud to partner with the State of California’s DMV to ensure users can safely and securely verify their identities,” said Reed Taussig, CEO of AuthenticID. “Our ongoing innovation delivers our customers the highest levels of security, privacy, and customer experience so that users can verify their identities effortlessly with the devices and technology they trust.”

Many believe we will see an exciting revolution of mDLs over the next few years as a REAL ID application for wallets, which will be accepted by travel and other sectors. Cross state and supplier collaboration will continue to bolster the digital services of California’s DMV Wallet.

California is one of 13 states to offer citizens mobile driver IDs.
