Technology trends such as AI are evolving the expectations on our workforces to harness technology-related skills. IATA has produced a travel perspective on the efficiencies that these emerging technologies can create for passengers’ experiences, automated processes of traveller identification and innovation.
According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, 60% of employers are in agreement that these technologies can transform their businesses by 2030. The dialogue surrounding AI and big data, networking and cybersecurity calls for workers to up-skill themselves to be the right fit for a number of front-line through to senior management roles.
To support the technology shift in the industry, the travel sector must also attract and develop new talent while upskilling those already working in aviation.
Tanja Schmidt, Director of IATA Training, says “we must continue to expand our courses to include areas such as AI and cybersecurity”.
