The Transportation Security Administration has recently grown its TSA PreCheck program to encompass eight additional airlines, making expedited and easier security screening available to more travellers.

The newly added airlines are Air Premia, Air Tahiti Nui, Air Transat, Bahamasair, BermudAir, Iberia, La Compagnie, and New Pacific Airlines, joining the roster of carriers that offer TSA PreCheck benefits to its passengers.

TSA PreCheck, a service designed for low-risk travellers, allows for a swift and less intrusive screening at over 200 airports across the United States and its territories, including Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, Bahamas. Qualified travellers in the programme are not required to remove laptops, small quantities of liquids, or food from their hand luggage. With designated lanes at checkpoints, 99% of TSA PreCheck passengers experience waiting times shorter than 10 minutes.

Eligibility for the TSA PreCheck program is extended to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents. The process begins online at tsa.gov/precheck, where after choosing an enrolment provider and filling out the application, travellers can schedule an in-person appointment.

Upon approval, individuals receive a Known Traveller Number (KTN) which, when added to airline reservations, grants them access to TSA PreCheck lanes. A timeline of 3 to 5 days is common for receiving a KTN after enrolment.

In addition, TSA PreCheck has updated its age policy. Now, teenagers aged 13-17 can pass through TSA PreCheck security with their enrolled parents or guardians on the same reservation. Furthermore, accompanying children aged 12 and under remain eligible to pass through with an adult.

To take advantage of TSA PreCheck, passengers must have an indicator on their boarding pass, confirming eligibility for the service as they approach a TSA checkpoint.

With this expansion, the TSA continues to streamline travel while maintaining security, offering a more convenient airport experience to an increased number of passengers.
