GlobalPlatform, the organisation which standardises the management of applications on secure chip technology, has announced Telechips as its latest Observer Member.Based in South Korea and with offices throughout Asia, Telechips is a fabless integrated circuit design and chipset solution provider, chiefly operating within the automotive infotainment and consumer set-top box (STB) sectors. As an Observer Member, Telechips will participate in GlobalPlatform's Premium Content Task Force, and is able to engage in the association's Advisory Council. "As a provider of STB solutions, Telechips is committed to delivering security and interoperability to the industry, particularly in the automotive and consumer STB sectors," says Andrew YK Lee, marketing group leader of Telechips Inc. "As a GlobalPlatform member, we intend to contribute to, and benefit from, the association's efforts to support the secure distribution of premium content through the standardisation of the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE)."Kevin Gillick, executive director at GlobalPlatform, adds: "With media being consumed across an unprecedented range of platforms, it is imperative that premium content providers are able to protect their assets.
