Internet of Things firm Netatmo has unveiled an HD smart home camera that uses facial recognition to “welcome” family members returning home.Netatmo says the device, known as Welcome, learns to identify each family member, and allows users to know instantly who is home through smartphone notifications. For instance, when children return from school, parents are informed with smart notifications such as “Lily is home”. It can also warn home-owners when strangers are in their home. The device, which has a 130 degree field of view and uses an infrared LED for night vision, has won four awards at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show being held in Las Vegas this week.”[This] technology makes today's smart homes even smarter. Welcome addresses two major consumer needs: to know when their loved ones are home and to be aware if a stranger breaks into their residence,” said Fred Potter, CEO and Founder of Netatmo.
