Swedish fingerprint recognition solution firm Precise Biometrics has reported that a South American insurance company has made an order for 2,000 of its Tactivo mobile security readers.Tactivo is a smart casing that adds smart card and fingerprint sensor capabilities to mobile phones and tablets.”Tactivo supports a wide range of use cases for secure mobile access. This deal is an excellent example of an innovative implementation of Tactivo to verify people´s identity using the functionality for fingerprint recognition, ” said Hakan Persson, CEO of Precise Biometrics.In December, Precise Biometrics announced that the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) within the US Department of Defense (DoD) had ordered 1,100 of its Tactivo mobile smart card readers.Tactivo supports US smart card credentials including CAC, PIV, PIV-I, TWIC, and the Precise Match-on-Card/ credentials used in many national ID programs.”The solution increases employees flexibility, allowing them to access data everywhere, while still maintaining secure authentication to critical data,” said Persson.On 4 December, the firm revealed that new models in its Tactivo range had been designed for the iPhone 6, iPad mini 3 and iPad Air 2.
