NEXT Biometrics has introduced a new generation of smart card sensors.Tore Etholm-Idsoe, CEO of NEXT Biometrics, said, “After 12 months of development we are very happy to announce that we have suceeded creating a brand new core sensor design that consumes less power and going forward will be used in both our flexible and rigid sensor modules.”This sensor is a key part of the firm's strategy to seize the leader position in the booming smart card market.The company added that the new sensor designs further enhance the NEXT ESD robustness (electrostatic discharges) to levels compliant with the most rigorous ESD standards, meeting the requirements of all the mass markets relevant for fingerprint sensors.NEXT CEO Tore Etholm-Idsoe said, “This is an important milestone in our strategic road map. We thank our high quality team of designers, software, firmware and hardware experts which has done a impressive job developing this new sensor generation.”
