Norway based NEXT Biometrics Group has announced the development of a new pitch-black, robust fingerprint sensor coating that the firm says meets the design requirements of most tier 1 smartphone, tablet and notebook manufacturers.Last November, the company signed an agreement with an unnamed multinational tier 1 company. for fingerprint sensors in multiple products to be launched in the second half of 2015.Its new fingerprint sensor coating has successfully completed development, qualification and customer acceptance, according to the firm.NEXT Biometrics CEO Tore Etholm-Idsøe said ” Being more secure, convenient and lower cost than competition we are already very well received among the procurement- , user experience – and security focused teams at leading Notebook, Tablet and Smartphone manufacturers. Now, also being able to offer fully black sensors, we meet the requirements of most major player industrial design teams.”The company also revealed last November that its production capacity will soon hit 1.8 million sensors per month, that that it had received an initial purchase order for 50,000 area sensors from the Chinese market.NEXT Biometrics said it had completed an acceptance test of a custom built, high capacity coating machine, enabling it to increase its capacity from 100,000 sensors to 1.8 million per month.
