British biometric solutions provider Net-X Solutions has announced a global release of an ANSI/NIST-compliant biometric viewer it has developed for the Android operating system.Although the solution has been available to users in USA, Canada and United Kingdom since March, following a successful trial the product is being released worldwide, the firm noted in a statement.Agencies who deal with biometrics on a daily basis use ANSI/NIST files to both transmit and receive important biometric data concerning individuals. Net-X says its solution allows these agencies, for the first time, to access this data from the vast majority of Android-based tablets and phones.The company has been a provider of biometric API's and consultancy services for over 10 years.”The release of our NIST Viewer product for Android devices cements our commitment to developing biometric products for the Android platform, and will see us releasing a number of our core APIs, includingWSQ Fingerprint Compression, NIST Import/Export, and Fingerprint identity services for this platform in the upcoming months” said James Jones, director at Net-X Solutions.The COTS product is being provided free of charge to all policing, government and educational institutions.
