We come to the end of identity talks, networking and tech immersion at Identity Week America 2024.
The huge gathering, coinciding with the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, reinforced the event’s pledge for security across America and around the world. Experts across different sectors converging over identity, from financial services to law enforcement, travel to e-commerce and government met up again to unify their goals and enhance synergies with partners.
The stage was opened to many speakers on behalf of international companies, who are creating seamless identity experiences. The elite of these talks were present in the keynote theatre opening and closing this year’s show, such as Kristin Olsen, Director of Product Management, Travel Experience Guest Digital Technology at Alaska Airlines.
Her ambitious speech was inspired by her everyday work trying to eliminate physical ID on the day of travel and speed up guest experiences, which more recently led to a renovation at Portland Airport Lobby. Currently, there is not enough self-service biometric technology in the lobby or pre-lobby to facilitate effortless guest experiences in 5-10 minutes or less.
Alaska Airlines is partners with One World Alliance and Codeshare, as well as TSA Pre-Check and vendors leading digital transformations including, Embross, Airside and Jumio. Emboss are the provider for bag drop processes.
She also endorses state based mobile driver licenses as digital ID for future guest experiences, with the requirements for “REAL” ID looming on May 7, 2024. 50 plus states are still to get mobile driver licenses.
Whilst digital ID is poised to complement biometric processes for travellers, passengers still opt-in to use digital ID whilst front line staff will continue real document checks.
All in all, Alaska Airlines are working towards giving passengers the most simplified guidance to “walk on” a plane with nothing more than their identity, face or phone. No boarding pass needed.
It was wonderful to listen to many of our speakers at Identity Week America, with their interviews coming soon on IdentityWeek.net!
