Identity verification firm Intellicheck Mobilisa has won a US$300,000 contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Mississippi Valley Division for its Defense ID system. The real-time identification verification and access awareness solution provides secure access for visitors seeking entrance to any of the six interdependent facilities that comprise the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Mississippi Valley Division. The Defense ID security system scans and authenticates drivers' licenses from all 50 U.S. states and Canada, as well as military and other identification documents issued by government agencies. Defense ID alerts security officers of a potential threat by comparing a visitor's identification card information with information available from over one hundred public and government data sources in real time. The system then determines if the identification is fake or stolen, whether the person is on Be-On-the-Lookout (BOLO) lists, the subject of law enforcement wants and warrants, or listed for military base debarments and driving suspensions. Defense ID's durable handheld mobile devices assure base personnel maximum flexibility regardless of whether a device is dropped or exposed to adverse weather conditions.Intellicheck CEO Dr. William Roof commented, "There is a growing awareness of the need for real time, secure access to critical military installations across the country. We are honored to be selected to provide our leading-edge technology to deliver an important new level of security at the Army Corps of Engineers' Mississippi Valley Division facilities. Security enforcement officers will now have the ability to quickly assess whether visitors and vendors to the site have legitimate credentials or pose a potential threat."Dr. Roof noted that the Defense ID security system is currently in use at over 35 military installations and U.S. ports across the country. "Intellicheck provides a superior level of real-time, situational awareness pertaining to knowledge about persons entering the base. This awareness is a critical safety component for the men and women who live and work on these bases," explained Dr. Roof.
