India's Minister for State for External Affairs, VK Singh, has told the country's parliament that the government is in the process of procuring devices for ePassports.The new generation of documents will include biometric details and a secure chip.According to local media, Mr Singh responded to a question in parliament: "The government has given its approval for procurement of electronic contactless inlays for manufacturing of ePassports to India Security Press (ISP) Nasik."ISP Nasik has been authorised to float a global three-stage tender for procurement of ICAO-compliant electronic contactless inlays along with its operating system, which is required for the manufacture of ePassports."The minister confirmed manufacture of ePassports will commence on the successful completion of the tendering and procurement process.
