Norwegian fingerprint sensor manufacturer IDEX has announced that its Cardinal touch sensor features in the LG Stylus 2 Plus. In a statement, IDEX said that the Cardinal Q and the newly released Cardinal N silicon sensor products have the smallest silicon footprints in the market for space challenged mobile fingerprint sensing form factors.It also features state of the art matching algorithm technology that exploits very small images to deliver quality biometric results, said IDEX.”We are very pleased to have our fingerprint sensor feature in a global LG smartphone. IDEX is one of a few fingerprint sensor vendors designed into a tier-1 mobile handset. This is a significant validation of the IDEX value proposition,” said Dr. Hemant Mardia, CEO of IDEX. “We are confident this will pave the way for additional design wins with our competitive sensor product portfolio in the coming quarters”, he continued.In February, IDEX had announced that it had received an initial commercial volume production order for its Cardinal touch fingerprint sensor for a tier-one mobile handset. IDEX said that production order followed IDEX's design win with an OEM smartphone manufacturer for a device to be distributed by a major wireless carrier, as announced on December 21, 2015.”Our first, commercial volume, production order represents a major milestone for IDEX serving as clear validation of our world class sensor technology.
