The first day of Identity Week Europe 2022 is nearly over but not without a roundup of fantastic highlights, from unmissable keynote presentations to the palpable buzz which filled the exhibition.

ID solution providers and enablers from a true cross-section of identity domains including physical and digital ID and biometrics gathered at London’s ExCeL, with the focus of further digitalisation on streamlining manual identification and counterbalancing common risks to identity security.

The range of use cases for digital and biometric ID solutions is vast and ever expanding in sectors such as travel, banking, Government, and law enforcement, co-existing for the foreseeable future with tested and trusted physical ID credentials.

Announcing speakers to the keynote stage, Identity Week CEO, Mark Lockie, gave an energised speech to open the conference and build excitement of solutions which will be demonstrated across the next two days.

The first presentation, delivered by Luca Pronzati, Chief Business Innovation Officer at MSc Cruises, launched into the new biometric technology the company plans to integrate into  2023 and 2024 to provide terminals-as-a-service for the customer’s travel journey.

Q: Have you started the implementation of the solution yet?

“We’re embracing the experience of 360° management”, he said. “We want to anticipate as much as possible for the launch at the beginning of 2023 or 2024” he continued.

Hannah Rutter, Deputy Director of Digital Identity at DCMS, also delivered an insightful keynote presentation on the department’s future and current policies to guide private sector innovation in identity security, to ensure trust is instilled in the consumer and businesses.

Finally, we heard from Diane Sabatino, Deputy Chief Executive Commissioner at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection who gave an insightful update on the matching facial biometric technology being integrated at US ports of entry.

In 2018, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection started actioning a touchless biometric experience for travellers which is vital to efficiencies in streamlining traveller experiences and allowing safe and secure travel to stay ahead of adversaries.

Don’t miss the second day jam-packed with more amazing speakers and unparalleled networking opportunities!
